Beyond the Medal
In competitive sports, the focus on performance and winning often overshadows personal growth, enjoyment, and emotional well-being. Athletes are expected to constantly strive for excellence, leaving little room for failure, vulnerability, or self-reflection. This pressure can lead to burnout, anxiety, and a diminished love for the game.
My project seeks to redefine success in sports, shifting the emphasis from external achievements, like medals and records, toward internal values such as progress, mental resilience, and personal fulfillment. To bring this concept to life, I designed a journaling book that encourages athletes to track their growth, reflect on their emotions, and build a healthier relationship with their sport.
By providing a space for self-reflection, this book helps athletes embrace their journey, celebrate small victories, and cultivate a mindset that values joy and perseverance over perfection. Through this project, I aim to empower athletes, coaches, and parents to foster a more balanced and supportive sports culture, one that prioritizes well-being as much as performance.
